So far, judging by the this episode – I LOVE what they are doing! I have bad eye sight and wear glasses – watching this remastered version compared to the DVD/VHS I have, was like I had been watching TNG previously without my glasses on so everything was blurry and although I could follow the story okay, the image was fuzzy and now on Bluray, it was like I had my glasses on – everything was familiar but clear and detailed and clean. I felt like this was how it was supposed to have been all along!

Second, the photos pages have moved into the series galleries – so TOS photos are now in the TOS gallery, TNG photos in the TNG gallery and DS9 photos in the DS9 gallery.

Third, I’m really getting excited about that TNG Bluray sampler disc Star Trek: The Next Generation — The Next Level. The comparisons I’ve been looking at TrekCore, even though not HD, show just how big an improvement it will be in image quality. The last time I rewatched season 1, I was really disgusted how awful the DVD image looked  January 31st can’t get here fast enough! The sampler will hold the pilot “The Encounter At Farpoint”, and 2 other episodes: ”Sins of the Father” and “The Inner Light”, with season release following later. I’m not clear on though – are they going to release season by season, or one big seven 7 box? I thought first I heard only big seven season box, but I might be remembering wrong.

I won’t be home at all during that time, and while I will have my laptop with me… I’ll only have access to a slowish Internet connection. So I will handle site maintenance stuff such as script updates and server crises (if any) as normal. But I won’t have most of my files and other resources (they’re on external hard drives) so everything else, like screencaps/screencapping, will have to wait until I’m back home again.

If you aren’t paying me, you don’t get to give me ORDERS. You don’t get to DEMAND anything.

If you want me to do something for you, be polite and ask. Sheesh, why is it so hard to get that??!!!!!!! It didn’t used to be like this until this last year or so. People on the internet are getting more and more rude :/

You’ve heard the rumors, and now StarTrek.com can officially confirm it: Star Trek: The Next Generation will be released in high-definition Blu-ray, starting in January with a sampler of several popular episodes, followed by a season-one set to be released later on in 2012, and subsequent seasons beaming down after that. Each of the 178 episodes spanning The Next Generation‘s seven seasons will be transferred to true high-definition 1080p for release in the Blu-ray format.

This means I’m halting my TNG screencapping right now. There’s no point in continuing capping from DVD now, only to have to recap from Bluray next year. Because I know I’ll be capping the TNG blurays as soon as humanly possible.

I’m not entirely sure what to do right now.  While waiting for the TNG blurays. I had a vague plan that first TNG, then DS9, and then selected episodes from VOY and then ENT at some point. But surely DS9 will follow TOS and TNG to Bluray at some point? But will it happen in 2-3 years, or a decade from now? Is there a point in starting to cap DS9 from DVD now?

Ugh. Hard question. Opinions?
